President Obama has posted his music playlist and proven
himself to be a music fan. Did you see
him sing Al Greene’s song “Let’s StayTogether”? President Obama recently asked his voters to
create a soundtrack for his reelection campaign. I think that’s a great idea. I can’t wait to see the songs that make the
final cut.
The President’s request got me thinking about my own
playlist. What songs would I add to my
soundtrack? Here's a few songs that I would have to add to my playlist.
My Playlist
I believe I can fly R. Kelly
Eye of the Tiger Survivor
What a wonderful world Louis Armstrong
Man in the mirror Michael Jackson
The climb Miley Cyrus
Change Sam Cooke
Never say Never Justin Beiber
One moment Whitney Houston
Three Little Birds Bob Marley
Firework Katy Perry
What songs communicate how you feel? What songs motivate you during the day? I would love to hear from you.
Great question Tonya! Here are a few songs that would be on my playlist
ReplyDeleteI'm Every Woman (Chaka Kahn)-that would be for all the busy women out there:)
Livin' My Life Like It's Golden (Jill Scott)
Stand (Donnie Mcclurkin)
I would like to add the following songs to the playlist:
ReplyDeleteWind Beneath My Wings
Jesus will pick you up
I Love the Lord
Greatest Love of All
Tonya,
ReplyDeleteI think the songs you selected were great choices.
Personally...I have would say that two gospel songs are resonating with me lately (Never Would Have Made It-Marvin Sapp and Order My Steps).
I would have most of the songs on your playlist and many others. Here are a few:
ReplyDeleteJesus Be a Fence Fred Hammond
I Trust You Donnie McClurkin
I'm Sexy and I know it LMAFO (my current theme song!)
Were Gonna Make it (can't remember the artist)
The Way you Are
After All (Cher & ?)
The list goes on and on. I have a playlist for most any activity or mood. Except house cleaning. Hm...what's a good list for that? Never mind. I don't want to know! LOL!
Thanks for the question!

You have a great list; here is one of my favorites:
ReplyDeleteI Believe I Can--R. Kelly
"Encourage Yourself" by Donald Lawrence is a day-starter for me. It's easy to look to other people and events for encouragement but that can also result in disappointment when those other people and events arent avaialble or don't occur. At the beginning, and the end, of each day, I have to look to the Lord and be able to encourage myself!
ReplyDeleteThree gospel songs immediately come to mind(always encouraging): "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", "Testimony"(When I look back over my life and think things over, I realize that I've been blessed--I've got a TESTIMONY), and most recently, "Hello Fear"-Kirk Franklin
DeleteSurvivor by Destiny's Child
ReplyDeleteI Trust You by James Fortune and Fiya
Mine Are:
ReplyDeleteYES! by Shiknah Glory Ministries
The BEST is YET to COME By Donald Lawrence
Earth has NO sorrow: By Maurette Brown Clark
Lift Him Up - I think that is Youthful Praise
Ok, Now to my secular music:
BOOM BOOM POW - Black Eyed Peas
I gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas
NO HANDS - by WALE
LOL
I love DANCE WITH MY FATHER - Luther Vandrose
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of my father (he was my best friend). He passed after I graduated from High School.
This was a great question!
Cynthia
Great playlist. I few of those would be on my own list but I would have to add three:
ReplyDeleteWhen You Believe By Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston
Hero By Mariah Carey
Heal The World by Michael Jackson
This is awesome, Tonya- My playlist would be:
ReplyDelete1) Black Butterfly - Denice Williams; This has long history in my life of uplifting me and allowing me to remember how far we've come.
2) Private Party - India Arie; This is just plain and simple positivity - defining myself FOR myself
3) In the midst of it all - Yolanda Adams; This one makes me flip my shoes off and raise my hands high.. tears stream.. #hoopandholla #dontgivein
4) Success if in your hands - Fred Hammond ; This is my meditation song before I work
5) Stregnth, Courage and Wisdom- India Arie; Used to put this song on REPEAT and simmer in it when I had an inconquerable task.
My song would be Closer by Goapele. It reminds me that I ever step I take no matter how small brings me closer to my dreams.
ReplyDeleteI have to think about this...I think it has to be something that can apply to many, many situations, moods, and needs. I will be on the listen over the next few days. Music has so much power! It is really influential and can create, change, or confirm the way you feel.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I will be on the listen.
When You Believe - Mariah Carey ft. Whitney Houston
